Project Overview

Nexight Group helps the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) collect and analyze data from their Propane Energy Pod Builder Incentive Program, which provides a financial incentive to builders who install propane-fueled appliances in new homes.

Need

To promote the construction of homes with propane-fueled appliances, PERC offers builders financial incentives to install sets of propane-fueled space heating, water heating, cooking, and other heating and power appliances (such as clothes dryers, fireplaces, pool heaters, outdoor heaters and lighting, renewable backup power units, or standby generators). In return, builders provide information about their experience purchasing and installing the appliances. To optimize the benefits of this program, PERC needed to collect and analyze the feedback from builders, and communicate the results in a compelling way.

Our Solution

We worked with PERC to define their top data collection needs and developed online surveys to most effectively gather that information from builders. The surveys ask builders questions about their purchasing decision influences, the home where the propane-fueled appliances were installed, and their installation experience. Builders complete the survey after installing the propane-fueled appliances, and we follow up with participants as needed to clarify their responses. After compiling the survey responses, we identify limitations in the data and analyze the results. We produce a highly visual and scannable summary dashboard of the program results, using graphics and diagrams to display the program’s key trends and conclusions.

Impact

The dashboard from this program provides valuable data and builder feedback that can help guide PERC’s future research, development, and training efforts in the residential market. We have supported the Propane Energy Pod Builder Incentive Program since 2014, and our support is ongoing.
